Artist Statement - Susan Varo
I have always been fascinated with bright colors, shapes and designs. I began drawing at eight which included animals people and cartoon characters. My work quickly became recognized by my teachers and peers. I won art contests and received many certificates in art. In 1974, I won a scholarship to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Soon after, I began using water color and oil paints on canvas to create my artwork.
In 1984, I attended the Center for the Media Arts in New York City and continued doing occasional freelance work. From 1994 through 2001, I sold portrait paintings. I also sold hand-painted greeting cards. My passion has led me to start My Works of Art, LLC a solely-owned oil painting company.

My Works of Art, LLC is an innovative company that I founded in 2006. It offers colorful, bold and brilliantly eclectic oil and acrylic paintings consisting of portraits, still life, landscapes, illustrations and holiday cards
Paintings do not come with a frame unless otherwise specified.

Also, the materials that are chosen to create these works are with the intent of being eco-friendly to help protect the environment and to help keep it green. This is accomplished by using natural and recyclable materials. My Works of Art is always searching for innovative ways to continue producing an environmentally-friendly product.
